WHAT DRIVES US AS A WOMAN.? (Part 2) By Olayemi Olaiya

THEME:WOMAN OF PURPOSE.

TOPIC: WHAT DRIVES US AS A WOMAN.

And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Gen 1:27-31.

He created males and females in his own image. At that time, the woman had not been created. He knew already that we existed before that time. God didn’t just say, I have created a male; I give you all this.” He gave them together, collectively. Already, he has a purpose. Woman was not formed at that time, and then in Genesis chapter two, he created woman for us to be able to take care of those things he had already created. For us to be joint heirs with the man. To be able to take care of the things he created. A man cannot do it alone. A man cannot reproduce on his own; he created us for generations to come. To be able to keep on creating great things on earth.

What drives us as women—is it negativity or positivity? What do we emulate? Social media influences, friendship influences? Women carry God’s value, but what influences us?

Example of women of value in the Bible.

A woman called Abigail. She was married to a man called Laban. Laban was proud and self-centered. Abigail heard all that her husband had been doing—all the terrible things—but refused to follow his ways. She kept building her home, making sure that all the people working with her husband were fine with her kind attitude. One day David, who had been fighting in the forest, came to Laban, knowing that he was very rich. David sent his men to Laban, and he said it was not his concern and they could die in the forest if they wanted to. He had neither compassion for them nor a sense of care. The servants of Laban went to tell Abigail how Laban had treated David; the servants testified of the good deeds of David to them. Abigail packed food and other necessary things and left. David was angry and told his servants they were going to destroy the house of Laban. Abigail, full of God’s wisdom and spirit, went ahead to meet David and gave him food to take care of himself and all his servants. David told her his intention to destroy the house of Laban, and Abigail said she knew her husband. Because of Abigail’s attitude, she was able to save the whole generation from being perished. She was also able to save David from sinning against God, and David appreciated her. Abigail didn’t pick up any negative attitude from Laban to influence her; she kept on doing the good thing.

Another example is Deborah. Deborah was a judge and prophetess. She played the role of a deliverer, delivering the whole of Israel. She brought victory to Israel; she didn’t pass wrong judgment; she applied God’s wisdom to everything she was doing. She gave the glory to God; she didn’t take the glory for herself. Even when Barak was saying, I cannot go alone,” she said, I will go with you,” and she didn’t do it by her word alone. As women, we should be careful of vain words. Sometimes we don’t need to talk; we should only talk when the Holy Spirit places some things on our hearts. It is not all conversation that we should jump into, nor should we contribute to all conversations. Sometimes it is always the trap of the enemy to say something, and then our word will be held, and that may be a great thing that might destroy generations because we carry generations.

How Do We Put Into Practice The Purpose Of God?

Study the word: To fulfill God’s purpose as women, we need to study the word, meditate on the word of God, and read Christian books because it helps us grow. We need to listen to holy-spirit-filled songs. You need the holy spirit to design the kind of songs for a particular moment because if we are talking about deliverance, you will know the kind of songs to sing at that particular time. When it is time for Thanksgiving, you will also know the kind of song needed. When we study our bible and meditate on the word of God and are able to stay in tune with God, we will be exercising our faith even when somebody says it is impossible, because you know that my God has said it; he can never fail. Your faith will stand strong if you create time to study the word daily. Devotion means giving time. The Bible says, “Give and it will be given back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaking together, and running over. It is not only talking about the monetary aspect. When you study, you are giving.

Praying and obedience to God: To be able to fulfill our purpose as women, we need to be prayerful. Deborah did this. Invite God into everything you do. The Bible encourages us to always pray.

Pray without ceasing. In everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1Thess 5:17-18.  Pray at all times—not sometimes but all the time.

I will cry unto God most high, unto God that performeth all things for me.

Psalm 57:2. Cry unto God because he is the only one who can fulfill your purpose for you. He’s the only one who can direct you. If you’re prayerful, you will know that “anywhere” means “nowhere. When you know where you’re going, you will know where you need to pause and ask if you’re going in the right direction, and then you continue on the path to fulfilling your purpose.

Waiting period: After prayer, you wait to hear the word. Another example is Rachel. She waited earnestly. The father of Rachel Laban said to Jacob, who was in love with Rachel and wanted to marry her, Jacob said I would work seven years as a bridesmaid to have Rachel. After the service, he was manipulated and given Leah as a wife (our parents can be crafty, but we need God to direct us). But he said I would serve another seven years to have Rachel, and Rachel waited patiently until the set time. (Gen 29:15-20). Despite all her waiting, she was also childless after she got married. Eventually, she gave birth to Joseph. The Bible says God was with Joseph. Anywhere he goes, even when he was put in prison, he is treated like a king. When he came out of prison, he was still treated like a king because God was with him. God was with Joseph before he was born because he was brought forth from Rachel. Rachel waited; we also have Elizabeth; she was also childless—not that they could not bear children, but there was a purpose for them. Let us see that our love for God is unmoved; no matter the trials, tribulations, or situations that we are in, he will a
